Love Stories
Romance, devotion, and sacrificial love. The Bible's greatest love stories.
Who said the Bible isn't romantic? The love stories in the Bible have everything — arranged marriages that turn into real love, a man who works fourteen years for the woman he can't stop thinking about, a foreign widow whose loyalty rewrites a royal family tree. But Scripture's idea of love is bigger than romance: it's covenant love that keeps promises decades later, a father who sprints down the road to hug the son who wasted everything, and a Messiah who offers living water to the woman everyone else crossed the street to avoid.
This collection gathers the greatest love stories in the Bible — romantic, familial, and divine — each retold as a short immersive audio episode. Same story you know from Scripture, told like your best friend spilling the tea. Listen to every one free in the Bible Tea app.
Every love story in this collection, story by story
Isaac & Rebekah
The Bible's first great romance starts with a servant, a prayer, and a stranger watering ten thirsty camels. Rebekah says yes to a man she's never met — and Genesis 24:67 gives us one of the oldest love lines ever written: "he took Rebekah, and she became his wife, and he loved her."
Jacob, Rachel & Leah
Jacob works seven years for Rachel's hand and it feels "like only a few days because of his love for her." Then his father-in-law swaps the bride at the wedding, and Jacob signs up for seven more years. A love triangle, a deception, and a God who works through all of it.
Ruth & Naomi
The most quoted wedding verse in the Bible — "where you go I will go" — was actually said by a daughter-in-law to her mother-in-law. Ruth's loyal love leads her to Boaz, a redemption story, and a spot in the family line of King David and Jesus himself.
God's Promise to David
A different kind of love story: covenant love. David wants to build God a house; God flips it and promises to build David a "house" — a dynasty that will never end. Two thousand years later, that promise lands on a throne that's still occupied.
The Good Samaritan
When a lawyer asks "who is my neighbor?", Jesus answers with the most scandalous love story he could invent — the hated outsider who stops, bandages a stranger's wounds, and pays his hotel bill. Love, defined by what it does.
The Prodigal Son
A son demands his inheritance early — basically wishing his dad dead — burns through it, and crawls home rehearsing an apology. His father sees him from a long way off and runs. In the ancient world, dignified men did not run. This one did.
The Woman at the Well
Five husbands, one current situation, and a water jar she carries at noon to avoid the gossip. Jesus sees the whole record and offers her living water anyway. She becomes the first person he plainly tells "I am the Messiah" — and the town's first evangelist.
Lazarus Lives Again
"Jesus wept" is the shortest verse in the Bible, and it happens at the tomb of a friend he's about to raise. Love that grieves with you first — and then calls you out of the grave by name.
Anointed at Bethany
Mary breaks a jar of perfume worth a year's wages and pours it over Jesus's feet, wiping them with her hair. The disciples call it a waste; Jesus calls it beautiful and says the story will be told wherever the gospel goes. He was right — here we are.
Kindness to Mephibosheth
Years after Jonathan's death, King David asks a dangerous question: "Is there anyone left of Saul's house I can show kindness to?" The answer is a disabled grandson hiding from the new regime. David gives him a permanent seat at the royal table. Love that keeps a promise made to a friend long gone.
