Bible Verses About Forgiveness

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”

Faithful and just — not moody. Confession meets a character, not a coin flip.

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

The measure is how you were forgiven, not how sorry they sound.

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.”

Grievance is assumed. The church was never a room without complaints.

“If you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”

Jesus ties the two directions together. Open hands both ways.

“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

East and west do not meet. That is how far He moved it.

“Who is a God like You, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance?”

The prophet is stunned. Forgiveness is not ordinary, even for God.

“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”

He said it while they were still doing it. That is the ceiling.

“Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”

Scarlet does not fade on its own. He does the whitening.
